Albert C. Martinez 1948 ~ 2018

Albert C. Martinez was born December 2, 1948, in Odessa Texas, the oldest of 6 children born to Albert L. and Casimira S. (Cardona) Martinez. He attended Deerfield Elementary in Deerfield, Kansas, and graduated from Wichita North High School with the class of 1967. He served in the US Air Force, then worked at A1 Mar Plumbing with his father, and at Safeway and Theiss Packing Plants until 1987, when he was employed by the United States Postal Service as a city letter carrier. In 1999, Albert was promoted to Customer Service Supervisor and worked at various locations in Wichita. The last four years of his career, he was the Customer Service Supervisor in Wellington, Kansas. He retired from the Postal Service in 2008.
Albert’s three children were all born in Wichita: Greg in 1975, William in 1981, and Samantha in 1982.
Albert met Beverly Shepard through the postal service and they married November 3, 2003 in Las Vegas at the county courthouse, and they resided in Wichita, Kansas. They enjoyed traveling as much as possible, including National Conventions for the National Association of Postal Supervisors, held in various parts of the country. One of the highlights of traveling was a New York City trip in 2011, to see the 9-11 Memorial and attend a Broadway Play. He also enjoyed attending baseball and soccer games grandson Jaden was involved in.
Albert was baptized in the Catholic Church when he was a young boy. Before his illness, Albert and Beverly had started attending the Westside FreeWill Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling in his younger years, mostly on league teams at Fireside Bowl. He loved watching car and truck building and restoration programs on the Velocity Channel.
Albert passed away at his home on Saturday morning, April 14, 2018, at the age of 69, after a two year battle with cancer.
Albert is preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother Daniel Martinez. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; son Gregory and wife Heather of Wichita, Kansas; son William of Louisville, Kentucky; daughter Samantha Baze and husband Jason of Wichita, Kansas; Stepdaughters Andrea Shepard of Kansas City, Ks and Erin Newman and husband Philip, along with step grandchildren Jaden, Jackson, and Kinsley of Haysville, Kansas.
Also, sister Delores Ladish and husband Joe of Wichita, Kansas; Addi Diaz and husband Eloy of Wichita, Kansas; and Juanita Dankert and husband Rick of Lakewood, Colorado; brothers Mario Martinez and wife Marcene of San Antonio, Texas; Marc Perez and wife Cyndra of Wichita, Kansas; and brother Richard Perez and his wife Natasha of Goodard.
